Mr. Matthies

Darrin has been teaching since October 2006. He started his career in Las Vegas, NV where he taught Fifth grade and second grade.  He then became a computer teacher for K-5. He also taught STEM fro two years.

Darrin taught 4th grade in Toledo, Oregon from 2013*2016. The Lincoln County School District provided Darrin with amazing opportunities to develop his teaching, specifically in STEM and Project Based Learning.  Through Lincoln County School's Ocean Literacy program and a partnership with the Oregon Coast STEM lab, Darrin was able to bring marine sciences to his students through classroom activities such as dissecting steelhead trout as well as amazing field trips to Oregon State's Hatfield Science center where his students learned hands on science with research scientists in a lab setting.

Darrin is currently teaching Music in the Lakewood School District in Marysville, Washington.
